Nicholas J. Kittle
Nicholas J. Kittle was born in Rensselaer Co., New York on October, 1810. On July 8, 1841, he married Marie Quilhot who was born December 20, 1817 in Cavinga County, New York. About 1850, they came to Shabbona and purchased a tract of land. This farm is now owned by the John Wards.
The Kittle family lived in a log cabin which was originally built for Chief Shabbona, but he never lived in it. There were five children born to this union. They were John, Margaret, Cornelia, Cornelius and Hannah.
John Nicholas Kittle was born in Kinderhook, New York, February 24, 1846. He married Sylvia Morse and to this union was born four children; Frank, Marie, William, and Wid, who married Mary Todd. To this family was born thirteen: Frank, Owen, John, Marie, Myrtle, Twin boys who died, Irene, Claude, Llewellin, Elmer, and Eleanor. Maud who married William Spray.
