Fredric H. Nowe
Fredric Herman Nowe was born in Honeoya Falls, New York, October 12, 1856 and passed away at his home in Lee July 26, 1933. Mr. Nowe’s parents came to Chicago when he was an infant. In a year or two they came to Shabbona Township where the home on Lee road remained until their deaths. On December 21, 1880 Fredric was united in marriage to Miss Helen Willrett (B. March 4, 1862, D. January 12, 1948) of Malta. They made their home on a farm near Lee. To this couple were born five children Leila (B. January 20, 1882, D. April 12, 1965), Dorothea (B. November 22, 1883, D. July 31, 1952), Mabel (B. July 14, 1885, D. August 21, 1958), Robert (B. November 5, 1887) and Helen (B. October 26, 1890, D. April 8, 1931). The Nowes retired in Lee around 1916. They were members of the Methodist Church.
Leia Nowe married Emory Cutts June 18, 1903. Dorothea married John Harris September 27, 1904. She had a second marriage to Nels Mubnsobn February 12, 1919. Mabel married James Snoke September 9, 1910. Robert Nowe married ildred Childs August 21, 1912. He made his livelihood in the Nowe Hardware from 1911 to 1923. He bought the hardware from Conden. Robert Nowe is the only survivor. Helen Nowe married Robert E. Colby August 31, 1929. The oldest grandchild of the Nowes was born in Lee, December 23, 1905. Helen Harris married Wayne Flewellyn September 25, 1929. They came to the Nowe farm in 1930 and cherish the family farm. Their son Wayne Jr, lives on the Snoke farm. Local great grandchildren of the Nowes were: John Edwin (April 6, 1934 D. September 25, 1950), Helen Anne (B. March 28, 1937), Jane Elizabeth (B. December 11, 1941) and Wayne Robert Flewellyn, Jr. (B. May 1, 1943).
