Reuben Challand, deceased
January 22, 1843: Will filed admitted to Probate and ordered recorded.
WILL
know all men by these presents that I, Reuben Challand of the County of DeKalb and State of Illinois, do hereby make, publish and declare this my last will and testament, in manner of follows, Viz:
First:-I give to my beloved wife, Ann Challand, the use of my homestead in Shabbona for and during the term of life, and the sum of Four Hundred and fifty Dollars per year to paid to her by my executors during the term of her life; it being my intention to provide for her a hoe and a comfortable support.
Second:-I give to my daughters Elizabeth Hallam, Sarah A. Stimpson, Esther R. Cutts and Emma Van Velzor the sum of One Thousand Dollars each: to be paid to them as soon as it can be conveniently after my disease. In case any of the are deceased leaving children, the shore on such on deceased shall to her children.
Third:-After the decease of my said wife, I then direct that all of property then remain shall be divided between my said four daughters and three sons as follows viz- All of the said daughters and Charles & Reuben, each to have the sum of Five Hundred Dollars. Then the remainder shall be divided equally between them all, share and share alike. I make this last distinction from the fact that have heretofore advanced to George $500.00 more that to the others. In case any of them are deceased then the children of such one deceased shall take his or her share.
Lastly:- I nominate and appoint my son Reuben Challand and my son-in-law George Cutts executors of this my last will and testament and I hereby revoke all former wills by me made.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 26 day of May A:D 1888
