Last Will and Testament of James Harper
I, James Harper of the Town of Paw Paw, County of Dekalb and state of Illinois, being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament, as follows: –
First. – I order and direct my executor hereinafter named to pay all my debts and funeral expenses as soon after my decease as conveniently may be.
Second, – After payment of such debts and funeral expenses, I give, bequeath and devise all the rest, residue and remainder of my property, of whatever kind and nature, be the same real, personal or mixed, to my two sons, viz: George Harper and Archibald R. Harper, share and share alike, TO HAVE AND TO HOLD to themselves absolutely, EXCEPT, and Provided, that said Archibald R. Harper shall and do pay to said George Harper the sum of Twenty-five Hundred ($25,00.00) Dollars, being one-half of the amount that I have Helped and advanced to said Archibald R. Harper heretofore more than an amount to which I have helped and advanced to said George Harper, such payment to be made within two years from the date of the admission of this will to probate and record.
Lastly, I herby nominate and appoint my said son, George Harper, to be the executor of this my last will and testament, and as I have implicit faith in his honesty and ability, it is my desire that he is not required to give any bond or security as such executor, the same being hereby waived.
I hereby revoke all and any former wills and codicils by me made.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this 17day of October, A. D. 1930.
James Harper, (Seal)
