July 20th, 1903. Will filed, and on Sept. 1st., 1903, Testimony heard in open Court, Will adjudged duly proven and ordered recorded.
WILL
I, Susan G. Hodge, of the City of DeKalb, county of DeKalb and State of Illinois, being of lawful age, do hereby make, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament in the manner following, that is to say:-
First. It is my will and desire that all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid.
Second. I give and bequeath to my nephew Nelson G. Carleton the sum of Two Thousand Dollars ($2000) to be paid out of my personal property; the above legacy is made subject to the said Nelson G Carleton coming forward and claiming said legacy within one year after my decease; in case he shall not claim such legacy within said time, then it is my will that said legacy lapse and be distributed with the rest of my personal property as provided in the next clause of this my will.
Third. I give and bequeath to Flora H. Matthewson and her children James Otis Matthewson, Myron Gray Matthewson and Norma Naomi, all now residing in the Township of Milan in said County, all the remainder of my personal property to be divided between them share and share alike.
Fourth. I give and devise to said Flora H. Matthewson the use of all my real estate during the remainder of her natural life.
Fifth: I give, devise and bequeath all the rest, residue and remainder of my property, either real personal or mixed, of whatsoever kind or nature, and wheresoever situated, and whether owned by me nor or acquired by me hereafter, unto said Flora H. Matthewson and James Otis Matthewson, Myron Gray Matthewson and Norma Naomi Matthewson, share and share alike, to be theirs and their heirs forever.
Sixth. I herby nominate and appoint said Flora H. Matthewson executrix of this my last will and testament; I herby direct and it is my will that she shall not be required to give a bond or security on her bond as executrix of this my will. I herby revoke all former will by me made.
