March 2d, 1887. Petition of Albion Pattee for letters of Administration on the Estate of Rodney Pattee, filed. Sets forth that Rodney Pattee departed this life at Shabbona on or about the 26th day of February 1887 leaving a last will which is presented to your honor for probate, that said will is subscribed by D. D. Stevens and William Jackson as witnesses and that your petitioner is appointed executor and that he is willing and ready to accept the trust; that said Rodney Pattee was the owner of eighty-five acres of land and personal property worth about $20/ That he left surviving him Laura C. Pattee, his widow, and Albion Pattee, adult, and four minor children of his deceased son Harrison Pattee, names unknown residing at Webster City, Iowa.
Subscribed and sworn to.
March 2d, 1887. Testimony of subscribing witnesses heard, and with the judge approved and ordered admitted to probate.
March 2d, 1887. Oath of executor taken and filed.
Will
I, Rodney Pattee, of the Town of Shabbona County of DeKalb and State of Illinois of the age of 74 years being of sound mind and memory do make publish and declare this my last will and testament, in manner following, that is to say:
First: To pay all my lawful debts.
Second: I give to my wife Laura C. Pattee her lawful dowery during her natural life time.
Third: I give to my son Albion Pattee all of my property both real and personal, after all of my lawful debts and expenses are paid.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 14th day of March 1881.
And lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my Albion Pattee, my son to be executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills made by me.

The usual attestation clause follows and is signed by William Jackson and D. D. Stevens both residing in Shabbona, DeKalb County, Illinois.
April 12th, 1887. Inventory filed. Shows that he owned 85 acres on Section 14, Twp. 38 R.3 being the N.85 acres of the S. W. 1/4 (The description SW.1/4 is an error as I know of my own personal knowledge that he never owned any land on said 1/4 but that he did own land on the N. E. 1/4 of said section. Abstractor.) Personal property to the amount of $17.25 and no notes nor accounts.

Among the papers in the case, but not filed, I find an affidavit setting forth that Laura C. Pattee died on or about the 29th day of December, 1890. Subscribed and sworn to on the 2d day of April, 1891.
