Will
“In the name of God, Amen. I, Malichi Deegin, of the Town of Shabbona, in the County of DeKalb and State of Illinois, of the age of sixty-six years, and being of sound mind and memory, do make, make, publish and declare this my last will and testament, in the manner following:– that is to say:- First, I desire that out of my property all my just debts be paid, also my funeral expenses, said debts and expenses to be paid by my wife, Dora Deegin, out of my personal property. I give to my wife, Dora Deegin, the use of all my real estate, also my personal property left after paying all my debts &c as aforementioned during her life, and at her death I desire that all my property left unexpended by my wife, Dora Deegin, both real estate and personal, be equally divided between my six children, viz:- Dora M. Garman, John Deegin, Malichi Deegin, James Deegin, Kate Deegin, and Eliza Deegin, if they are living at the time of the decease of my wife, Dora Deegin; but if any if my children should be dead at the time of the decease or death of my wife, Dora Deegin, then it is my wish that all my property or the proceeds thereof left unexpended by my wife, Dora Deegin, at the time of her death, be equally divided between such of my children as may be then living.
Provided that my two sons, John and James Deegin are to have a home on my farm consisting of two hundred and forty acres in the Town of Shabbona and eighty acres in the Town of Clinton, DeKalb County, Illinois, in connection with their mother, Dora Deegin, my wife during her lifetime. My sons are to assist her in carrying on said farm. It is my wish that my wife, “Dora Deegin, and she is to provide a home and care for my invalid son, Malichi, and at the death of my wife, my son John shall provide a home and care for my invalid son, Malichi, and at the death of my son Malichi, my son is to have his, Malachi’s, share for so taking care of him. My two daughters, Kate and Eliza, are to have home on my farm as long as they remain single and until the death of their mother.
And lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my friends Edward Boyland and Horace Root to be the Executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
