February 28th, 1920.  Will filed, and on March 29th, 1920, duly probated and admitted to record.

Will
In the of God, Amen.  I, Julia Griffin of Shabbona, in the County of DeKalb and State of Illinois, being of sound mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament.

First:-  I order and direct that my Executor hereinafter named, pay all my just debts and funeral expenses as soon after my decease as conveniently may be.

Second:-  After the payment of such funeral expenses and just debts, I give, devise and bequeath to my husband, John Griffin, the use of all my estate real, personal and mixed of every name and nature whatsoever for his sole use and benefit, during the term of his natural life, to be received and accepted by him in lien of any dower interests to which he is or may be entitled under the Statutes of the State of Illinois.

Sec.3d:- I give, devise and bequeath, (after the death of my said husband John Griffin) to my friend, Martha Murtha, if she shall survive my said husband, the sum of One Thousand Dollars, as a token of Friendship.  If she shall not survi8ve my said husband, then this bequest shall be null and void.

Sec. 4th:-  After the death of my said husband, John Griffin, I give, devise, and bequeath all the rest, residue and remainder of my said estate real, personal or mixed, of every name and nature whatsoever, which shall remain after the death of my said husband, to my sister Jennie Todd, of Aurora, Ill., to be her estate forever.

Lastly:-  I make, constitute and appoint my husband, John Griffin without bonds, to be the Executor of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal, the Eleventh day of November, in the year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred Fourteen.

This instrument was on the day of the date thereof, signed, published and declared by the said Testator Julia Griffin to be her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at her request have subscribed our names hereto as witnesses, in her presence, and in the presence of each other, believing the said Julia Griffin to be at the time of so subscribing our names of sound mind and memory.

Feb. 28th, 1920.  Petition of John Griffin for Probate of Will and Letters Testamentary filed, representing that Julia Griffin, who was at the time of her death, a resident of the County of DeKalb, State of Illinois, departed this life at Shabbona, in DeKalb county, State of Illinois, on or about the 8th day of February, A. D. 1920, testate, and seized and possessed of Real Estate, valued at about Thirty-nine Thousand Eight Hundred Dollars, and of Personal Property estimated to be worth about Four Hundred Dollars.

Petition further represents that said deceased left surviving her, John Griffin, residing at Shabbona, Illinois, her husband, and the following named persons as his only heirs at law and legatees, and their respective places of residence so far as known are as follows:

Jennie Todd, heir and devisee, adult, 40 View St., Aurora, Ill. and
Mary Murtha, Legatee, adult, Shabbona, Illinois.
